STALEKS. Cuticle nippers, 4 mm, Skin nippers SMART 31
Description
Professional skin nippers STALEKS PRO SMART 31 NS-31-4 are designed for trimming cuticles and rough skin during classic (trim) and combined manicure/pedicure. Hand-sharpened, with a radius profile, they cut the cuticle precisely and neatly, leaving no hangnails and unevenness.
Staleks PRO SMART 31 NS-31-4 nippers belong to the professional series; they can be frequently sterilized and disinfected without losing their properties.
Cutting edges and "heel"
Staleks PRO SMART 31 NS-31-4 skin nippers feature straight cutting edges 4 mm long. They are sharpened under a microscope on diamond wheels, so the manicure results in a smooth, neat cut without wounds and hangnails. After sharpening, the tool remains sharp for a long time. The cutting part has a protrusion ("heel") above the hinge plane, making it easy to treat skin of varying thickness and make a deeper cut.
Shape and length of handles
Staleks Pro Smart 31 NS-31-4 professional skin nippers have rounded shortened handles that are comfortable in work, easily fixed between fingers and the palm pad. The tool does not slip and does not require extra effort to grip, and the hand gets less tired during work.
Spring of the nippers
The spring of the NS-31-4 nippers consists of two plates that give the tool a soft action. They close easily, allowing you to control the degree of pressure and the accuracy of the cut. The hinges operate smoothly, evenly distributing the load between the handles.
Staleks PRO SMART 31 NS-31-4 skin nippers: material
The nippers are made of high-alloy stainless surgical steel. It is a durable metal with a high chromium content, not prone to deformation and wear even with active use. The steel cutting edges retain sharpness for a long time and are designed for an accurate and precise cut without extra effort.
The metal withstands contact with water and chemicals. The surface of Staleks Pro Smart 31 nippers is polished to a shine in two stages: on a sanding flap wheel with grain to remove roughness, then with GOI paste to add gloss and corrosion protection. After that, tumbling (high-tech polishing) and sandblasting are performed to give a matte finish. The matte coating is scratch-resistant, and any marks on it are hardly noticeable.

Tool cleaning
Professional manicure nippers must be cleaned and disinfected after each use. For the safety of the master and clients, keep the work table clean and follow all stages of disinfection and sterilization. Additionally, use gloves and masks. Let's consider the treatment stages step by step.
Step 1. Disinfection. It is carried out to destroy pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms, as well as to reduce the number of fungal spores. To do this, immerse the nippers in a disinfectant solution, for example, Staleks Pro disinfectant. Then act according to the instructions of the solution manufacturer. Usually, the treatment time is 15-30 minutes. When purchasing disinfectants, it is better to choose those whose instructions indicate activity against hepatitis B and C viruses and dermatomycosis. Disinfection can be combined with washing in special machines to destroy blood and dirt particles using vibration.
Step 2. Washing. To remove residues of the chemical solution, rinse the tool with water and a special detergent manually, or use a washing machine. Use special brushes with plastic bristles in the hinge areas and other joints, carefully handling the cutting parts. An ultrasonic bath is also suitable for cleaning.
Step 3. Drying. To dry, carefully place the nippers open, cutting part upward, on disposable paper towels, then place them in kraft bags. The tool must be completely dry, as residual moisture during subsequent sterilization can lead to corrosion.
Step 4. Sterilization. Destroys not only bacteria but also viruses and fungal spores. Follow the instructions of the sterilizer or solution manufacturer. Sterilization can be physical or chemical. Physical – hot, using high temperatures in steam equipment (autoclave) or dry-heat (dry oven), chemical – cold, using specialized chemical solutions.
Recommendations for sterilization and disinfection:
- Despite the anti-corrosion coating of Staleks Pro nippers, do not soak them in water for a long time, as this will reduce the anti-corrosion protection.
- Use a disinfectant for metal tools. Do not use aggressive substances such as acetone and alkalis for treating tools.
- Use a special container for chemically aggressive agents. The disinfectant solution must cover the nippers by at least 1 cm; the concentration and exposure time are indicated on the product packaging.
- After disinfection, thoroughly clean the nippers from solution residues, as they can cause corrosion.
- After sterilization, leave the tool in a dry oven or autoclave until completely cooled, since sudden temperature changes can disrupt the physical properties of the steel, and sharpening will be needed more often.
- Fill the sterilizer at 70% so as not to cover the ventilation openings; place kraft bags in one layer.
- After sterilization, check the external indicators, which should change color if the procedure is successful. Open and remove the sterile tool directly in front of the client.
How to check the cutting quality of the tool
The sharpness of skin nippers of the Smart series is tested on a film.
- Prepare the material on which the cut test will be performed. Make sure it is smooth and sufficiently stretched.
- Take the manicure nippers you want to test in your working hand. Open and hold them relative to the material as you would when correcting the nail plate or trimming the cuticle.
- Insert the test material between the cutting edges from the tip by the required sharpening length of the working cutting part, and start making a smooth cut with the nippers. Perform it with light pressure. Make sure the tool does not catch, but makes an even and soft cut.
- Repeat the process to confirm the result. Pay attention to ensure the cut is clean and easy.
- If the cut was even and soft, the tool is suitable for work.
- If the nippers caught or the cut turned out uneven, they should be replaced or taken to a service center for blade sharpening.
Sharpening
The master sharpens the nippers under a microscope on diamond wheels to obtain an even, neat cut during manicure. After sharpening, the tool remains sharp for a long time.
If you have dropped, bent, or deformed the nippers, the spring broke, or the closure became incomplete, the tool can be sent for restoration. In branded Staleks Shop&Service stores, there are sharpening specialists you can contact. If you cannot visit an offline store, send the nippers for sharpening via Nova Poshta. Quality control
Tools at the Staleks production facility undergo several stages of technical quality control. First, every detail is thoroughly checked: edge sharpness, hinges, springs, polishing. Then the functionality of the nippers as a whole, assembly quality, and how the new batch withstands repeated use.
How to care for the tool
The durability, edge sharpness, and corrosion susceptibility of the nippers depend on how you use, clean, and store them. To keep the manicure tool sharp and functional for as long as possible, it must be properly maintained.
Tool storage
Use the nippers for their intended purpose (for nail correction or cuticle removal, respectively) when performing classic trim and combined manicure/pedicure. We recommend not using the tool for other purposes; this will dull the blades and weaken the hinge.
After cleaning, it is recommended to lubricate the connecting hinges to maintain smooth motion and avoid friction and jamming. A few drops of oil, then squeezing and releasing movements, after which the tool can be placed in airtight packaging. Remove excess oil with a clean napkin.
Store manicure nippers dry and clean, in a special tool case, box, or sterile kraft bags, so that they remain clean and do not dull when the edges touch other metal tools and objects. Sterile tools can be stored in an ultraviolet cabinet.
When storing, place the nippers with the blades up.
The service life of the tool is unlimited, provided that transport, storage, and use conditions are followed.
Store nippers in a dry place out of reach of children.
Do not allow the tool to fall onto hard surfaces or come into contact with corrosive impurities.
