They are sharpened under a microscope on diamond wheels, resulting in a smooth, neat cut without wounds or hangnails during manicure. After sharpening, the tool remains sharp for a long time. The cutting part has a protrusion ("heel") over the hinge plane, making it easy to handle skin of different thicknesses and make deeper cuts.

The metal withstands contact with water and chemicals. The surface of the Staleks Pro Smart 31 nippers is polished to a shine in two stages: first on a flap wheel with abrasive grain to remove roughness, then with GOI paste to add gloss and corrosion protection. After that, tumbling is performed — high-tech grinding — and sandblasting to create a matte finish. The matte coating is scratch-resistant, and any marks on it are barely noticeable.

Instrument cleaning

Professional manicure nippers must be cleaned and disinfected after each use. For the safety of the master and clients, maintain cleanliness on the work table and follow all stages of disinfection and sterilization. Additionally, use gloves and masks. Let's go through the processing steps step by step.

Step 1. Disinfection. It is carried out to destroy pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms, as well as to reduce the number of fungal spores. To do this, immerse the nippers in a disinfectant solution, for example, Staleks Pro disinfectant. Then follow the manufacturer's instructions for the solution. Usually, the treatment time is 15-30 minutes. When buying disinfection products, it is better to choose those whose instructions indicate activity against hepatitis B, C viruses and dermatomycoses. Disinfection can be combined with washing in special devices to remove blood and dirt particles using vibration.

Step 2. Washing. To remove residual chemical solution, rinse the instrument with water and a special detergent manually, or use a washing machine. In hinge areas and other joints, use special brushes with plastic bristles, carefully handling the cutting parts. An ultrasonic bath is also suitable for cleaning.

Step 3. Drying. To dry the nippers, carefully lay them open, cutting part up, on disposable paper towels, then place in kraft bags. The instrument must be completely dry, as residual moisture during subsequent sterilization can lead to corrosion.

Step 4. Sterilization. Destroys not only bacteria, but also viruses and fungal spores. Follow the instructions of the sterilizer or solution manufacturer. Sterilization can be physical or chemical. Physical is hot, using high temperatures in steam equipment (autoclave) or dry heat (dry oven), chemical is cold, using specialized chemical solutions.

Recommendations for sterilization and disinfection:

1. Despite the anti-corrosion coating of Staleks Pro nippers, do not soak them in water for a long time, as this will reduce the anti-corrosion protection.
2. Use a disinfectant for metal instruments. Do not use aggressive substances such as acetone and alkalis for instrument treatment.
3. Use a special container for chemically aggressive agents. The disinfectant solution should cover the nippers by at least 1 cm; concentration and exposure time are indicated on the product packaging.
4. After disinfection, thoroughly clean the nippers from solution residues, as they can cause corrosion.
5. After sterilization, leave the instrument in the dry oven or autoclave until completely cooled, as sudden temperature changes can alter the physical properties of the steel, and sharpening will be needed more often.
6. Fill the sterilizer to 70% capacity so as not to block the ventilation openings; stack kraft bags in a single layer.
7. After sterilization, check the external indicators, which will change color upon successful procedure. Open and take out the sterile instrument directly in front of the client.

How to check the cutting quality of the instrument

The sharpness of Smart series cuticle nippers is tested on a film.

• Prepare the material on which the cut test will be performed. Ensure it is flat and sufficiently stretched.
• Take the manicure nippers you want to test in your working hand. Open and hold them relative to the material as you would when correcting the nail plate or trimming cuticles.
• Insert the test material between the cutting edges from the tip to the required length of the working cutting part, and start smoothly making a cut with the nippers. Perform it with slight pressure. Ensure the instrument does not catch but makes a smooth and soft cut.
• Repeat the process to confirm the result. Pay attention to the cut being clear and easy.
• If the cut was smooth and soft, the instrument is fit for use.
• If the nippers caught or the cut turned out uneven, they should be replaced or sent to a service center for blade sharpening.

Sharpening

The master sharpens the nippers under a microscope on diamond wheels to achieve a smooth, neat cut during manicure. After sharpening, the instrument remains sharp for a long time.

How to care for the instrument

The durability, edge sharpness, and corrosion susceptibility of the nippers depend on how you use, clean, and store them. To keep your manicure instrument sharp and functional as long as possible, it must be properly cared for.

Storing the instrument

1. Use the nippers for their intended purpose (for nail correction or cuticle removal, respectively) when performing classic and combined manicure/pedicure. We recommend not using the instrument for other purposes, as this will dull the blades and weaken the hinge.

2. After cleaning, it is recommended to lubricate the connecting hinges to maintain smooth action and avoid friction and sticking. A few drops of oil, then compress and release movements; after that, the instrument can be placed in airtight packaging. Remove excess oil with a clean wipe.

3. Store the manicure nippers dry and clean, in a special instrument case, box, or sterile kraft bags so they stay clean and do not dull by touching the edges of other metal tools and objects. Sterile instrument can be stored in a UV cabinet.

4. When storing, position the nippers with blades facing up.

5. The service life of the instrument is unlimited if the conditions of transportation, storage, and use are met.

6. Keep the nippers in a dry place out of the reach of children.

7. Do not allow the instrument to fall onto a hard surface and avoid contact with corrosion-active impurities.
